Vuvox.com

Vuvox is a unique presentation web-based application with three options: Express, Studio, and Collage. Presentations can vary from linear photo collages to Prezi-like presentations. You can easily combine photos, videos, audio, and text. It is very user-friendly; the first time you use a feature a tutorial pops-up, there is a help faq for later review of the features. The downside is when you try to view a collage or presentation, the slider is very jumpy – it takes a while to get used to using it. I prefer a slideshow that moves for me.

Vuvox requires the creation of a free account. This would be appropriate for introduction to high-school students only. There is not an educational version and “VUVOX is NOT for people under the age of 13. If you are under 13 years of age, please do not visit VUVOX. Teens ages 13-17 are welcome, if they have permission from a parent or legal guardian.” On this same faq page, Vuvox gives a list of suggestions for protecting your privacy.

However, teachers of all ages could make presentations of lessons with this software and there are quite a few to view in exploring this site. Once a presentation is created, you can link to it but there is no export feature. Vuvox is best used to present a short collage of photos, the other slideshow programs have features more in line with creating an in-depth presentation.
